CWB Structural Welder

POSITION SUMMARY
Canadian Plains is looking for a CWB Structural Welder with relevant experience in oil & gas construction/facility maintenance. Typical welds include joining structural components such as beams, channels and plates are completed as per welding procedure specifications and drawing packages. Our welders take pride in their trade and see that Canadian Plains high standards of safety and quality are always met.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Emphasis on Safety, Quality and Production while working in accordance with client specifications and weld procedures
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine layout requirements.
- Conduct repairs, modifications, and retrofits
- Cutting gouging grinding of all types of structural materials
- Monitor parts usage and report on any material issues
- Fit and weld skids and structural subassemblies
- Use hand torches, welding machines, power, and hand tools
- Understand and participate in the Quality Control Program
- Follow written and oral instructions from the Foreman/Lead Hand
- Communicate with Foreman/Lead Hand to identify material or equipment deficiencies
- Communicate with other workers to ensure timely job progression
- Organize and keep work area and equipment clean and functional
QUALIFICATIONS
- CWB ticket is required
- Valid driver’s license & clean drivers abstract
- H2S Alive, WHIMIS, CSTS, OSSA (preferred but not required), Standard First Aid,
- Must pass pre-employment alcohol and drug test
- Local to Estevan, Saskatchewan preferred

- Developed analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to follow direction/learn on the job
- Experience with MCAW/FCAW in shop setting
- Comfortable working outdoors
